Big Eddy is a traditional campground in many ways, but Chewonki has added amenities and comforts for those who prefer non-tenting options. We have also upgraded all of the campground’s privies. Our "camping cabins" are rustic, with no bathrooms and no running water, perfect for folks who love to camp but who want to sleep under a roof and off the ground.
Crib Cabin overlooks The Cribworks, one of the most spectacular stretches of whitewater in New England. Fall asleep to the sound of the water cascading over rocks, and enjoy your breakfast on the front porch as you watch Bald Eagles and Osprey fishing for their morning meal. This rustic, private shoreside camp is a short walk from the main campground. Perfect for a couple, fisherman, or a few friends hoping to get away from it all. Equipped with woodstove, propane lights, cookstove and outhouse. Sleeps 2-3; $45 / night per person (2 person minimum, 2 night minimum).
Eddy Cabin is nestled in a small grove of trees and looks onto Big Eddy Pool—a world-class site for Landlocked Salmon. Much as in Crib Cabin, you are lulled to sleep at night by the sound of cascading water and wake in the morning to your choice of eating breakfast on the porch or casting into the mist. This rustic, one-room cabin has a woodstove, propane lights, cookstove, screened-in porch kitchen, and is just a short walk from the privies and showers. It is ideal for a couple. Sleeps 2. Eddy Cabin—sleeps 2; $45 / night per person (2 person minimum, 2 night minimum)
Hunting Camp is a very rustic lodging option on the north side of the river. This private cabin is only steps away from the river and has a woodstove, propane lights, and cookstove. It's just a short walk from the privies. Sleeps 6; $30 / night per person (2 person minimum)
