Wilderness Vacations for Audults & Families

September 27- October 1, 2010

Debsconeag

Chewonki is excited to partner with Camden-based artist Colin Page for a unique wilderness artists' retreat. Travel to Chewonki's wilderness camps on Fourth Debsconeag Lake and enjoy five days of painting, learning, exploration, delicious food, and friendship.

There is a great amount of value found in learning to paint from nature. In this workshop, we will be working on painting the landscape on site. Colin will use demos and one-on-one time with students to teach about paint handling, composition, color, drawing, and how to see the world more carefully. Through oil painting you will learn about the essentials for working outdoors, with the hope of capturing the sense of light in a scene. This class will include group critiques and the chance to learn from each other.

This class will be most helpful to people with some painting experience, but Colin is happy to help painters of all levels, whether you are a seasoned plein air painter, or a novice and want to try painting the landscape outside for the first time. Either way, we’ll keep the class fun and informative.
