Coed and Girls Trips

Each summer participants travel to Chewonki from as close as Wiscasset, Maine and from as far away as Tokyo, Japan. For youth programs Chewonki staff meet flights in Portland and Boston on the opening day of the first and second session of trips. Many participants arrive by car. We ask that 5-week trippers arrive by car or they may be met at the Portland Maine Airport.

Wilderness Trippers travel by van with their wilderness trip leaders to the site of their drop-off for their specific trip. Some trips, such as Mistissini and George River venture farther north into Canada and may travel by train and float plane to reach their destination. These extra transportation costs are generally included in the tuition of for the trip

Adult, Family, Exploritas Trips

All trips in Maine generally begin at Chewonki from where groups depart by van to the departure point. There are some trips that rendezvous at a centralized meeting point the day before the trip. Trips to Baffin Island meet in Montreal and to the Everglades meet in Miami Florida. Trips to Cumberland Island meet in Jacksonville Florida. If your trip includes extra transportation by plane or train the cost is generally included in the trip tuition.
