In fall 2007, Maine Coast Semester was formally approved for accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the nation’s oldest regional accrediting association. NEASC accredits 255 colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions and more than 619 private, independent schools in New England.

Credit for Maine Coast Semester is awarded by students' sending schools. We forward grades and comprehensive teacher comments to parents and schools at midterm and the end of the semester. For class-ranking purposes, all Maine Coast Semester courses should be considered as honors or at the AP level, as appropriate.

Maine Coast Semester is approved by the State of Maine Department of Education. We are also a member of the Maine and National Associations of Independent Schools

accredited by NEA S & C

Student reading in the library.

I was in a math class with three people. I was in a Spanish class with four people. This is because MCS tracked where we were in our course material at our sending schools and they developed specific programs for us which would meet the goals of our sending school curriculum.
