.Each student is advised by one of our full-time residential faculty members. Advisor and student meet weekly to discuss all aspects of life at Maine Coast Semester, including academic progress.

At the mid-term and at the end-of-semester, advisors write comments to the students, parents, and sending schools.  Because faculty and students spend so much time living and learning together, a great deal of informal advising and takes place at meals, while doing chores, or while sitting outside on a sunny day.

The teachers were a part of our lives in and outside the classroom. They ate with us, did chores with us and were our advisors. Because they were with us so often, they were very in tune with our personal lives. They were not, however, invasive. They were helpful when we needed help-- and they realized that we just needed to be teenagers sometimes.
