Financial aid or scholarship may be available where need is demonstrated. Please don’t be discouraged by the cost of our programs. If you are interested in our programs but feel you can’t afford them, please take the time to complete our financial aid application. We want to work with you! Applications are based on tax information for the year immediately preceding the summer your child will attend camp. Therefore, applications are not accepted until January at the earliest. The financial aid application deadline is February 15.

MAINE GIRLS SCHOLARSHIP
In addition to our general financial aid, Chewonki offers special scholarships to girls from Maine. The Maine Girls Scholarship Fund was established to ensure that a wide variety of girls and young women can participate in our wonderful programs – especially girls who live in Maine. Each scholarship recipient can register for the Chewonki girls program of her choice.  Award amounts vary according to financial need (calculated through a standard formula) and each participant is asked to contribute at least a small amount toward her summer experience.  (No full scholarships are granted.)

WHO CAN APPLY
Chewonki’s Maine Girls Scholarship is awarded to Maine girls ages 8-17 who show great enthusiasm for living and learning in the outdoors, who have the social and emotional maturity to thrive in a community of female peers, and who would be unable to attend Camp Chewonki for Girls without financial assistance.  For older girls, we also look for interest and experience in developing leadership skills, for example, experience in community service, student government, and other activities that demonstrate determination, personal challenge, high achievement, collaboration, compassion, integrity, and sound judgment.

HOW TO APPLY FOR MAINE GIRLS SCHOLARSHIP

All applicants must submit:

1. Camp Chewonki Registration Form (downloaded from registration page)
2. Maine Girls Scholarship, Parts I and II (download at right)
3. Teacher Recommendation Letter

The application file will not be complete until all 3 components are received

APPLICATION DEADLINE
The application deadline is March 15th.  Applications will be reviewed promptly by the scholarship committee.  Award decision letters will be mailed to applicants.
