After nearly a decade-long search, the Chewonki Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of Camp Chewonki for Girls on Fourth Debsconeag Lake in the heart of Maine’s North Woods. The camp will proudly open its doors in Summer 2008, offering a suite of wilderness programs for girls ages 11-17. An introductory program will be held on Chewonki Neck in Wiscasset for girls ages 8-11.

I am pleased to share with parents, participants, and families that girls and young women will now have a beautiful community of their own in which to grow and play. The wilderness offers a compelling setting for our new girls camp. Here, our leaders will have the luxury of space and privacy in an exquisite natural setting allowing them to create an environment that supports self-discovery, meaningful relationship development, and appreciation for the natural world. I look forward to creating new traditions for Camp Chewonki Girls and hope you will join us on this great new adventure!
