Where do I go swimming?
Chewonki’s inland tidal bay, with its dependable winds, protection from heavy surf, and freedom from other boats, provides an excellent saltwater setting for our waterfront activities. Campers may elect to sign up for swimming as an activity choice or come down for a cool dip in the saltwater during their free time. The waterfront is a popular spot during General Swim; campers can go down the waterslide, hang out on the swim float, or, when the tide is right, jump off the high dive or go cliff jumping across the creek. During low tide campers can explore the salt marsh mud flats with nature counselors or perhaps go on an Ellisonian mud rove, a longstanding Chewonki tradition. Our waterfront is supervised by trained lifeguards at all times.
