We are excited to invite you to join our friends at 350.org, for a Global Work Party on 10/10/10.

On October 10, 2010, 350.org and Chewonki are getting to work on climate change and building community with events wherever we live.

We already know that Chewonki alumni all over the world are doing great things in their communities.  This is a chance to join together, meet fellow alumni, share stories, build community, and improve your environment at the same time. 350.org is making an impact and raising global awareness about the urgency of climate change. Let's join them by creating work parties around the world on 10/10/10.  It’s easy to register your event at 350.org.  Please tell us about an event you are holding or attending, so we can share it with the Chewonki family.

At Chewonki, we plan to divide into various work crews at Eaton Farm, on the Back River Trail, and on Chewonki Neck. We are also looking to organize staff and student service projects for neighbors in our community.  If you live nearby, check out our events here.  Check out events already posted in your area by going to 350.org.

What can you do?  How about a trail work crew in your local preserve?  A community garden work party?  Litter pick-up in your neighborhood?  Coastal clean-up along the shore?  Tree planting in a near-by city park?  Organize something in your neighborhood, school or work-place. You could even write a letter to your local and state legislators.  And contact us for Chewonki alumni in your area who might be able to help!

A better future depends upon all of us working together. Let's get together, make an impact, and have fun on 10/10/10 - A Chewonki Global Work Party / A Chewonki International Day of Service!
